Fifth Meet up @ Sydney

Calling all Deaf & Hard of Hearing Photographers! This month we will be doing landscape photography. Our professional photographer, Peter Hill will be joining us to teach and he will also spend one-on-one time with each photographer. Interpreter will be provided.

Peter Hill have won awards, been exhibited, been published in photography magazines, so please check out his amazing work!

We will be shooting in The Valley Of The Waters. It has the most and best waterfalls in the Blue Mountains.

Date: Sunday 9th November, 2014

Location: Meet in the car park at Conservation Hut, Fletcher Street, Wentworth Falls

Time: At the first light - 5.30am!

Why so early?

Landscape photography deserves the best light, and the best light is at and just after sunrise. Also, we will be shooting waterfalls and it is important to photograph them without sunlight hitting them and when the shadows are muted (so details can be drawn out). Finally, this is a popular location for bush walkers (and other photographers) and it is thus a lot easier to shoot before the hordes arrive as the track is narrow and they tend to wander into frame.

Afterwards, we will go back to car park before noon, have a coffee/lunch at the cafe, and review the shoot.

What To Bring:

The aim here is to go as light as possible. There is a lot of walking and it is steep.

In addition to a camera body, ideally:

  • Wide angle lens
  • Filters - ND, Grad ND, and/or CP
  • Tripod
  • Remote release
  • Lens cloth

  • Backpack
  • Umbrella (if it is raining)
  • At least 1 litre water
  • Energy bars or similar
  • Light clothing
  • Rain jacket (if it is raining)
  • Cap

Preparation is the key to having a good and safe shoot!

Please RSVP by 6th November to avoid disappointment, and you'll receive an email with detailed information about this shoot.

Looking forward to see you there!

Sue :)
